Three Tips for Winter Management of Greenhouse Vegetables

At the moment, it is the busy season for vegetable production in greenhouses. Due to the low temperature outside the greenhouse and frequent foggy weather, this has an impact on the growth of vegetables in the greenhouse. Here are three tips for greenhouse management for your reference.

    Strictly control the temperature

In rainy and foggy weather, the most important thing is to control and maintain the temperature in the greenhouse.

During this period, greenhouse vegetables grew rapidly, and many vegetable farmers ignored the internal temperature of the greenhouse in order to pursue yield. After the winter, the temperature difference between day and night in the greenhouse will increase. There will be sufficient sunlight during the day. The temperature will rise quickly after the film is sealed, and the temperature increase effect will be poor on cloudy and rainy days. At this time, if the temperature is too low, the vegetables will grow slowly; if the temperature is too high, it is easy to cause the vegetables to grow long and burn the seedlings. For example, the suitable temperature for cucumber growth is 18°C to 30°C, and the suitable temperature for tomato growth is 13°C to 28°C.

If the temperature is not too low, you can actually uncover the shed film. In order to increase the ground temperature, the mulch film should be covered early when there are more cloudy days in winter, which can reduce the occurrence of low-temperature freezing damage. "In winter, the temperature in the greenhouse is required to be kept above 12°C. When the temperature is too low, measures can be taken to increase the temperature.

Try to cover the shed film as tightly as possible

In order to reduce heat loss and increase the temperature and soil temperature in winter, the shed film should be covered as tightly as possible. Wind barriers can be set around the big shed, and multi-layer covering measures such as middle shed, small shed, and ground film can be arranged in the big shed. Heating measures can also be used to increase the temperature, such as electric heating, coal furnace heating and so on.

What should I do if the vegetables are frozen?

At this time, the vegetable grower should not immediately close the shed to heat up, because the sudden increase in temperature will easily cause the vegetable tissue to become necrotic. Instead, the temperature in the shed should rise slowly. At the same time, cut off the frozen fruits, stems and leaves in time to avoid moldy tissues.

    Pay attention to balanced fertilization

In addition, the management of water and fertilizer in the greenhouse in winter should be "see the sky and see the seedlings".

Greenhouse vegetables can use water and fertilizer integrated irrigation technology, watering and fertilizing through a dropper under the film, which saves time in construction, and can control humidity, reduce disease incidence, and increase vegetable yield.

At the same time, fertilization should pay attention to the balanced application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and topdressing in time, generally topdressing 2 to 3 times. Special attention should be paid to applying less nitrogen fertilizer and more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer during the flowering and fruiting period of vegetables.
