Central Rural Work Conference held in Beijing: Plan to build China into an agricultural power.

The Central Rural Work Conference was held in Beijing.  It was also the fourth time for the General Secretary to attend the Central Rural Work Conference in the new era.

Embarking on a new journey, the General Secretary laid out in this speech what goals, strategic priorities and main directions should be set for the work concerning agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

1. Anchor a goal

In recent years, it has become common practice to hold the Central Rural Work Conference in December every year after the Central Economic Work Conference to make special arrangements for the work concerning agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

 In 2013, 2017 and 2020, the General Secretary attended and delivered important speeches at the Central Rural Work Conference.

On December 28, 2020, the General Secretary sent a clear signal to the whole Party and society at the Central Rural Work Conference: 'Agriculture, rural areas' work is still extremely important on the new journey, must not relax, must grasp firmly."

The 20th CPC National Congress held this year identified the central task of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects and promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in an all-round way through Chinese-style modernization. China needs to be strong and stronger in all areas and in all aspects. Agriculture is undoubtedly a vital part of the equation.

The meeting clearly pointed out that at present, we should anchor the goal of building an agricultural power, scientifically plan and promote the work of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers", strengthen the top-level design, and formulate plans to speed up the building of an agricultural power.

2. Focus on top priorities

China is a large country with a large population, so it is always the top priority to solve the problem of eating food. At this Central Rural Work Conference, it was pointed out once again that ensuring the stable and safe supply of grain and important agricultural products is always the top priority of building an agricultural country.

At this year's meeting, it was pointed out that we will resolutely adhere to the red line of 1.8 billion mu of arable land, gradually turn all permanent basic farmland into high-standard farmland, and make effective efforts to revitalize the seed industry so that we can firmly control our own varieties.

3. Focus on the important tasks

At this year's Central Rural Work Conference, it was pointed out that we should comprehensively promote the "five vitalizations", make coordinated plans, focus on key areas and strengthen weak links.

Industrial revitalization is the top priority of rural revitalization. Implement industrial support policies, do a good job of "local specialties", rely on agricultural and rural characteristics of resources, to develop multiple agricultural functions, mining rural multiple value to benefit, to the integration of the primary, secondary and tertiary industry development to benefit.

Iv. Deployment of key work

To build an agricultural power, science and technology are indispensable.

At the Central Rural Work Conference the year before last, it was pointed out that "the new round of agricultural scientific and technological revolution characterized by biotechnology and information technology is breeding great breakthroughs, and all countries are seizing the commanding heights. As a large agricultural country. We will uphold self-reliance in agricultural science and technology and accelerate efforts to tackle key core agricultural technologies."

At the meeting, it was pointed out that in deepening rural reform, we must continue to focus on the relationship between farmers and land, so that farmers can share more fruits in the reform.
